I’m living in one room and wasting the rest of my apartment.

live in an average-sized apartment (750 square feet), and honestly, I don’t use much of it. My needs, as I’m getting older (I’m still quite young), are for a bigger apartment, and the general space is decreasing. Right now, as I’m writing this post, I’m sitting in a small room with a desk, a laptop on it, a small bed for one person, and my piano. Nothing else.

Why am I so content in a small apartment?

I think I’m a minimalist, and I must have everything within reach. Only a few things are in my room, really. My day is between my laptop and my piano, and they are next to each other. After piano training and playing most of the music, I’m writing everything in my notation program on the computer.

I rarely use sheet music paper, maybe that’s just my convenience, but that’s just how it is. I like to have everything in one place and not look for sheets around. But I digress.

My obsession with having everything in one place is just too strong to put anything in a different room, so I’m using one only for training and stretching. Yeah… I don’t train in the gym because I don’t want to catch any skin disease.

Is that laziness?

If you want to do something fast, we’ll give it to someone who is really lazy, so they will choose the easiest and fastest way to solve the problem.

I’m working at home, and I used to do a lot during the day, and I had serious problems with stopping work. That could be a problem for me to be disciplined if I wasn’t constantly at “the office”. I mind-hacked myself by closing myself in one room, where I’m doing everything.

“The biggest change wasn’t becoming more productive — it was feeling calmer.” – Me xD

In this way, I can do much more, and always put here and there some tiny work, check on something that I need to control, and it seems that it works for me. That was actually a relief that I’m not forcing myself to do everything at once in one block.

Why am I even writing this?

I’m thinking about buying a house in Los Angeles County, where houses are usually bigger than in Europe, where I’m right now. Most likely, I will buy something around 10,000+ sqr feet, which is much bigger than I was expecting, but in a few years, I’m planning to start a family. This is why I’m thinking about something bigger, a room for music, a bedroom for my wife and me, children’s rooms, and stuff. If you think about it, it’s easy to fill up the space, but before having kids, I will end up in one room… Probably on the first floor…
